Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the lower house of the Indian Parliament, Lok Sabha, dropped his much-awaited ‘H bomb’ on Wednesday. He alleged that there was widespread vote rigging in last year’s Haryana assembly elections. He claimed that out of a total of 2 crore voters in Haryana, 2.5 lakh votes were stolen. That is, one in every eight voters is fake, which is 12.5 percent of the total votes. But it doesn’t end here. Rahul showed that a Brazilian model voted 22 times in the Haryana elections.
Rahul Gandhi said that after the elections, many Congress candidates told him that something was wrong. All the exit polls, that is, the booth return survey, had predicted a victory for the Congress. But the results were the opposite. The BJP won. He showed a video of BJP leader and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in front of journalists. In it, Saini confidently said, ‘The system has been done, the BJP is winning.’
Rahul Gandhi’s question, ‘What was meant by this system? At that time, all the parties were saying that the Congress was winning by a huge margin, but he was calmly saying that the BJP was winning.’ He also said that for the first time in the history of Haryana, the results of postal voting were opposite to the votes cast at the booth. He said, ‘I am questioning the Election Commission of India and the democratic process, with 100% evidence. We are sure that a plan was implemented to turn the victory of the Congress into a defeat.’
He claimed that the Congress lost eight seats by a very small margin. Out of these, one seat was by just 32 votes. The total margin was 22,779 votes. He said, ‘That means the Congress lost the entire Haryana election by 22,779 votes.’
Gandhi gave an example of a woman’s picture being used 22 times in the voter list. The picture of the woman was actually of a Brazilian model, which could be downloaded for free from a stock photo website. He said that the picture of the model was listed under different names. For example, ‘Sweetie, Seema, Saraswati’ etc. He said, “This woman can vote in 10 different booths. I mean, this is not a random mistake, but a centrally-managed operation.”
He also said that the same woman’s picture was found on 100 voter IDs in one constituency. He said, “This woman can vote 100 times if she wants. Through this, a space is created in the voter list so that BJP people can come and vote from other states.”
He also showed the picture of another woman, which was used 223 times in the voter list of two booths. He alleged, “This is why the Election Commission destroyed the CCTV footage of the booth.” He said, “If the Election Commission wanted, it is possible to identify fake voters in a second. So why don’t they do it? Because, they are helping the BJP.” He then showed some more examples of voter IDs with the same picture but different names. He claimed that 3 lakh 50 thousand names were deleted from the voter list of Haryana before the elections.
